“Promote or Perish! The Greatest Myth of Publishing:  Your Book Is
Written, Now Let the Publisher Promote It”

Review by: Cheryl McCann, Editor of Electronic Book Reviews and
Review Books.

Collaboration of authors Allyn Evans, Joyce Faulkner, Kathe Gogolewski,
Carolyn Howard-Johnson and Marilyn Peake of 30 audio class series on
Book Promotion, Writing, and Technology relative to writing sponsored by
Deron Douglas, publisher of Double Dragon Publishing. A listing of all 30
audio classes can be found at Kathe Gogolewski’s Web site, http://www.tri-
studio.com/kathegogolewskiAUDIOCLASSES.html.

Carolyn Howard-Johnson (http://www.carolynhowardjohnson.com), author of
award-winning This is the Place and award-winning Harkening: A Collection
of Stories Remembered presents the 12 major myths of the publishing world
and counters with the real truth based on years of experience and training.
For example, myths such as:

•        book tours are best to promote your book
•        bookstores are the best place to sell your book
•        it is always best to publish traditionally, plus 9 other important myths

Carolyn offers invaluable information on book promotion excerpted from The
Frugal Book Promoter named as USA Book News' Best Professional Book
2004.

Marilyn Peake (http://www.marilynpeake.com), author of a three-book series
of children’s fantasy adventure novels:  The Fisherman’s Son, The City of the
Golden Sun, and Return of the Golden Age, shares her own experience of
what specifically works in getting book sales for her books. These four-plus
tips range from good book reviews to marketing events. Marilyn gives
specific information from her own successes and also about her trials in the
“black hole of no sales” that she recovered from so that other authors or
would-be authors can use immediately.

Kathe Gogolewski (http://www.tri-studios.com/kathegogolewski.html), is
author of Tato, a children’s fantasy/adventure tale, and A Promise to Keep
(under pen name Ann Durand, a romance novel).  Kathe discusses the
impact of media releases on book promotion and gives an important Web
site for reaching key media people at a cost of absolutely free of charge.
This is a valuable piece of information for exposure for yourself and your
book and not one to miss.

Concluding the class, the authors share excellent anecdotal information
concerning branding yourself as an author rather than just by book title, Web
site activity results after author marketing events, and other pertinent book
promotion tips. The beneficial information is in an easy-to-understand format
with voice clarity and professionalism.

The audio series is available from Double Dragon Publishing “DDP POD
